Best TIG Welder reviews

Best TIG Welders for 2022 – AC/DC Model – Reviews & Top Picks

In the case of aluminum, stainless steel, titanium or thin sheets, heat control is essential.

There is no other process that controls heat and produces fine welds as well as TIG.

The process is top-of-the-line, regardless of whether you call it TIG, Heli-Arc, or GTAW.

The two-handed method is also the most rewarding to master.

When you are unsure of what you need, a TIG machine can be quite expensive.

There were a lot of TIG welders to choose from, so we combed through a bunch of them.

1. Mophorn TIG-200 TIG Welder

The Mophen TIG Welder is our budget TIG welder in this roundup because it has a lot to offer for the price. A dual 120/240 dual voltage input power, 60 percent duty cycle and 200 amp power output on a machine in this price range is simply amazing. It offers TIG or stick welding, a 20 to 200 amp TIG operating range, a hot start and an infinitely adjustable analog amperage control. The one significant disadvantage is that it lacks a pedal. A fingertip control is used instead.

It does not accept any pedal system, either. This isn’t a deal-breaker when you consider the price, but it is something to consider. The TIG process already requires a hand to use the torch and a hand to feed welding rod into the puddle. A hand control doesn’t make a difficult job easier. The foot pedal has its place in TIG work. However, users reported smooth welding and many were pleasantly surprised by the price to performance value of this TIG machine.

2. Amico TIG-160DC TIG Welder

This Amico TiG 160 Amp A dual input 120/240 volt welding machine can be plugged into any common power supply and is low cost. You should always consider the following factors when selecting the best TIG welder:

  • Are you most likely to do a certain type of project?
  • Would you mind describing the specific functions you need?
  • How much does your budget cost?

Plan To Do What Type Of Projects?

When appearance is important, such as on bicycle frames, truck bumpers, lawn furniture, and the like, TIG welding is the best choice. In addition, it is the most appropriate way to weld very thin sheet metal since stick and MIG processes put too much heat into the metal and result in burn-through.Because of its penetration and lack of contaminants in the weld, using a TIG welder is the best option when welding aluminum and stainless steel.Welding aluminum and stainless steel with a TIG welder is the best option due to its penetration and lack of contaminants.

What Kinds Of Functions Do You Need To Perform At Work?

You can weld aluminum with either DC or AC, but you usually see the recommendation to use AC to weld aluminum.AC welding produces high-frequency pulses that help keep the weld puddle clean. A primary advantage of TIG welding is heat control, an important factor when welding aluminum. You want to look for AC vs DC capability, a plasma cutter, the ability to select the AC waveform, e.g., square wave or true sine wave, and adjustable pulse rate.

Multiple-processor machines offer more functions for your money

Multiple-processor welders offer a lot more versatility for the same price. These can offer both a MIG and plasma cutter.

What is your budget for your machine?

There are enough features and options available when buying a TIG to drive welding costs up to the same level as building a house. The most important thing to consider is what equipment and functions are most important and staying under your budget to get the best TIG welder. Don’t forget to consider the length of the warranty as well.

The Things You Need To Watch Out For

Some equipment is essential, such as a foot pedal to control heat or a flow meter-type gas regulator. You’re looking for a TIG welder that includes these features. Will you need to purchase higher-quality items to get the best results from the welder?

You Need To Check The Duty Cycle

Make sure you check the duty cycle rating of the welding machines and the power they’re rated at for that percentage.

Welder duty cycles are based on the amount of time a welder can operate continuously before overheating.

If your duty cycle is 40 percent, you can weld for four minutes straight at the rated power. Four minutes is a long time to weld continuously. While the more expensive American welding machines cost more, you will find that they have much lower duty cycle ratings than the less-expensive Chinese-built machines.

There’s an old saying that something seems too good to be true. This has to do with rating methodology. In an environment like this, expensive big-name companies are more cautious because their equipment is used by professionals during long shifts over an extended period of time.

You should budget for gas cylinders, the cost of filling them, and optional but important components like water cooling.

Having Said That

Compared to basic welding, TIG welding requires a great deal more skill, and TIG machines are more expensive than other welders and offer features not found on other machines. You should educate yourself at welding forums and manufacturer’s websites on what terms and functions mean before spending money on something you might not even need.

In light of these factors, we think the Miller Max Star STR is the best TIG welder since it offers the most bang for the buck and is designed for professionals. Miller’s legendary customer service, the long warranty, wireless remote control, memory card storage, and wireless remote control were just a few reasons why the MaxStar made our Professional Pick list in this guide.

If you are not a professional, then both the Yes Welder TIG-250P and the newly-updated Easteood TIG200 offer AC/DC TIG, stick welding, a nice selection of features, quality, and power at a reasonable price. There are foot pedals on both and a wide range of settings as well. Eastwood pedal just got a new rocker-action pedal with finer control.

As part of its recent upgrade, the Eastwood TIG200 does away with its digital display entirely, so if you are bothered by the YesWelder TIG-250P’s almost entirely digital display, you may want to check out the Eastwood TIG200 instead.

The main advantage of the YesWelder over the Eastwood TIG200 is that it is generator-friendly, and can handle dirty power fluctuations.

It is also worth considering the Prime Weld TIG225X, which has great customer service and is in a similar price range.
